The Identity of the Butler.

'The Butler on hearing the calm of silence, came out of his room and walked slowly to the front door. Making sure it was closed he turned around and walked back. He smiled as he found himself standing next to the gold gilded mirror that brushed his shoulder earlier in the evening.

He looked down at his feet and the immaculately polished shoes and then ever so slowly raised his head up until his eyes met his reflection in the mirror.

So it was a reflection was staring right back.

It was not however a Butler that reflected or indeed stared back, it was a young woman adorned with a russet coloured head scarf and who held a book in her hand, whilst a white orchid nestled under her right arm.

The Butler looked for several seconds and then smiling he turned his gaze from the mirror and made his way down the hall.

‘They know me….they have always known me. If they ask if they will visit again’, the Butler uttered to herself as she smiled, ‘well I would say yes, I would say I’m sure you will….’.
